Guy-Liner

Eyeliner for men (Aka : Guy-liner) The Dos’ and Don'ts

Guys wearing makeup? I’m sure some of you out there are reading this and thinking NO NO NO. Others might be more open to the idea.
Contrary to popular belief, I don’t believe eyeliner has to be restricted to “Women only”. If a man wants to wear eyeliner, why not? There is however, a fine line between “just enough” for that rock star appeal, to  “too much" that just looks messy.

Things to remember:
Of course creativity is always welcome!
However, same rules that apply to women, LESS IS MORE.
Don't over do the liner, simply apply a small amount of black liner starting from the outside of your bottom lash line and moving inwards. If you feel like you still want more, you can even opt for the top lash line, just don't go all the way to the inner corner and tear duct area. (it will take a little practice)

For  guys who are into more drasticlooks (including shadows or mascara)  I don't suggest them as “every day” shool/work looks.

And just to clear things up, you don't have to be gay to wear it. It doesn't make you gay if you do. Make up is just another way to express creativity, individuality, and to have fun!

Some examples of all time favorite guy liner:

Pete Wentz uses just the right amount, and always rocks his liner!

Ryan Ross is another guy who has embraced eyeliner

Model Alex Evans

And if  you are going to wear a lot, might as well have fun!( Pic 1: Ryan Ross   Pic 2: Andy Sixx )

It might not be for everyone, but for those who want to give it a shot, go for it!

3 Fall Hygiene tips!

Hi Again!

Morning face. Bed head. Bad breath. That ghostly pale tinge to your skin. LETS FRESHEN UP!

Between school, work, friends, kids, pets, love life, catching up on your sitcoms, and everything else in the hectic lives we lead, health and personal hygiene might not be at the top of the list. To help you out a bit, here are some tips, tricks, and products to try out and kick off the fall! Its time to take care of yourself, because we all deserve a little pampering ;)

1. Naturally exfoliate! Kick those chemicals and grab some oatmeal! After watching a video by "Bubzbeauty" We gave oatmeal a try and found that it works better than most store-bought cleansers! Just take a small handful of oats in your palm, run under warm water, press to soften and massage lightly into your skin. The oatmeal will instantly firm and detoxify while removing any dry, dead skin!
Both of us have been using this method for over a month and we can confirm its magic! Say "Expecto Patronum" to rough dry skin ;) ( Harry Potter reference) Thanks Bubz!! -  http://youtu.be/7e5_RVBwNjE

2. Remember to pack D.O. for any B.O. ! Finding the right deodorant is important, especially in the dog days of  summer!  There are a lot of choices out there, from clinical strengths to sports wear, powder based, and gels. Determine how much you generally sweat and how much strength you think necessary, the best thing to do is try a few out and continue with the one that works best! Buys trial sizes is a good way to figure out  the perfect on without wasting money! If yous specifically self conscious about under arm perspiration, and tend to have higher levels, giving a Mens Deodorant a try isn't a bad plan! Try and sniff out for one that's less musky and more neutral "clean" smelling if you don't wan to smell too much like "man"!

3. Who says you have to wait until Christmas for presents? As a gift to yourself, kiss goodbye any old makeup, and restock on new products (this includes hair products, and oral hygiene as well)! It can be hard to part with that favorite lip stick, or that last nub of eyeliner pencil, But out with the old and in with the new! After a while, makeup can actually sort of "go bad" so to speak. Due to temperature change, and other environmental conditions (including "purse tsunamis" which seem to occur every time I open my hand bag) , make up can get pretty nasty. Not only is it pointless to keep an half exploded lip gloss, or 3 year old blush palate that will never be used again, its also unsanitary after a while to keep a product past its time. No, we aren't saying you should go and throw away your entire collection of eye shadows and concealer, just the ones that are ready to "move on".  (Besides, who doesn't love an excuse to take a trip to Sephora, or even just the drug store makeup isle ;) )

My Take On Popular Summer Looks

Hey guys! It's Gwen today. If you've read any fashion magazine lately, I'm sure you guys have noticed all the popular looks for summer: "Tribal", "Boho", "Edgy", "Chic", etc.  If you're okay with copying exactly what the magazine says and recreating precisely the same outfits, then by all means do it up.  But if you're like me and want to take the look and make it your own, go for it!  In this post I've taken a couple basic summer looks and added some individuality to them.  My sister Emma has modeled them for us:

This is my recreation of the "World Traveler" look that is featured in many magazines.  I think I'll call it...Hiker Chic? :) In this look I've combined a black floral bustier, dark wash cutoffs, layered necklaces, hiker socks, and high-heeled construction boots.  I styled Emma's hair in a side fishtail braid, and armed her with a pickaxe for a prop.

Floral Bustier: Derek Heart (Levinsky's)
Cutoffs: Faded Glory (Walmart)
High-heeled Construction Boots: Jellypop (DSW)
Hiker Socks: Smartwool (L.L.Bean) >.<
Necklaces: (Forever 21, Bass)

In this next look, I was inspired by my trashy, unfinished basement to create an edgy, downtown ensemble.  This outfit is simple, but accessories aren't really needed because of the zipper on the side of the shirt and the studded detailing on the jeans.  For this look, I just kept Emma's hair down & roughed up the texture a little bit.

Shirt: La Petite Francais (Vintage)
Jeans: Uproar (JC Penney)
Converse: Converse One-Star (Target)

Rompers: The New Summer Must-Have

Everybody Is Hot Hot Hot !

Summer:
Time to rip off that sweater and throw on your bikinis, relax, party, and get some vitamin D!
With all the fun you will be having, the last thing you want to worry about it your dress pulling a Marilyn Monroe or any awkward short-short wedgies :P

Solution?
Rompers!
At first you might think " Like a jumper...for 5 year olds?" or " Dress with 2 leg holes?"
 BUT...
actually, they can be pretty chic!  Summer rompers are a fun, new spin on the classic summer dress.  Rompers can be dressed up or dressed down, and they are an easy fix for those "What should I wear today?" moments.  You can do anything in rompers, from shopping to sailing to doing cartwheels! (which you definitely cannot do in a dress).  Rompers are especially good for those still figuring out the whole "fashion" thing, because all you need to do is put on a romper, select a basic piece of jewelry, and go!  These little pieces of attire are perfect for those highly-dignified-yet-unbeknownst-to-fashion people because you can look great and like you know what you're doing fashionwise (even if you don't ;)).
Matched with the right accessories, they can be suited for basically any style:

Girly:

Sophistocated:

Boho:

Quirky:

Alternative:

Tribal:

Happy romping everyone!

Guy's Fashion: WE SUGGEST READING ON!...Please

(Read on, even if you are a girl, and help us help the guys!)

We all know the dressing regimen of most guys here in America:
1. Grab a random shirt.
2. Grab a pair of jeans (who cares if they are clean...)
3. Lace up the same pair of sneakers that are worn every day.
As hot as you guys are now, with a little style boost you have potential to be even hotter (no bench-pressing required).
We understand that some guys are afraid of dressing well, in fear of being called "gay" or "a tool".  Let it be known throughout the world that girls do not equate "dressing well" with "being gay". When a girl sees a well-put-together guy, she doesn't think "He's definitely gay." Contrary to popular belief, the first thing that crosses her mind is "Ooh. Sexaaay." *insert catcall here*.  Yes, it is on the inside that counts, but your style should reflect your personality. You dont have to change yourself for your style, but change your style for yourself.

*Here are some tips, looks, and stores to try out:
(Keep in mind that these are general categories, and just as a guideline! Don't be afraid to try your own thing!)

Athletic Guy: (And chances are you already have some of theses pieces)
- Basketball Sneakers
- Casual Tee
- Basketball shorts or just some jeans
- Favorite hat!
-Maybe a sports jacket  ( football jack for example)

TIP: Keeping colors in the same color palette will help you look more put together, but with little effort!  (And by not clashing purple, orange, and every other color under the sun...save our eye sight!)

Some Stores: Hollister, American Eagle, Abricromie, Finish Line, Olympia, even Marshalls and TJMaxx have great sales!
(this picture is a little more Preppy, but we felt like the sweatshirt worked)

(^or these...but not at the same time^)

(Notice how we stuck with 2 main brighter colors, then paired them with black and white, which are basic colors)

Alternative/Skater Guy:  Pretty straight forward: darker colors, skinny or straight-leg jeans, boarding shorts, trucker/ flat-rim hat or slouchy beanie, Vans, Converse, high-tops, etc, and......  Graphic/V-Necks/Band tees! <----- for a little personality!
TIP: This look is generally darker, but a bright colored tee every once in a while is a cool change.

Stores to try: Pac Sun, Zumiez, Hot Topic, Yes-Style (which is a collection of Asian brands)

Euro/Artistic Guy: ^ Can blend somewhat with "Alternative", but basically Simplistic but well-put-together! You want to look like you care, but just enough.
Basic V-Neck or tee
Dark wash jeans (new trend: extra zippers/buttons/pockets= optional!)
Flat bottomed sneakers, biking boots
Leather Jacket or structured jacket
Slouchy hat
Scarves (we think America's ready for guys in scarves...)
Tip: A dog-tag necklace is a cool understated piece that looks great with a plane white V-Neck

Stores: Urban Outfitters, Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle, Yes-Style, Marshalls, Pac Sun.

Casual/Everyday Guy:
Not as easy to "categorize", just some left over pieces that will work well together!

Work boots, straight-leg jeans, any tee (Graphic, V-Neck, collared or button down shirts), favorite sweatshirt

  (Can't forget Charlie Sheen...)

Good luck Guys! ;)
